My windows media player network sharing service has stopped working and was closed message keeps popping up - Answered by a verified Tech Support Specialist. My windows media player network sharing service has stopped working and was closed message keeps popping up staying a problem caused the application to stop working correctly windows.
Possible fix when this error message displays. I hope this may help others with a similar configuration and situation. I have WinDVD 8 LE that came with the Pioneer BDC-2202. Besides not being able to play blu ray dvds on windvd (that is a whole different problem that I am trying to research!), I started to get the following error message recently when trying to start WinDVD. WINDVD MFC Application has stopped working My system consists of. OS: Vista Home Premium Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H Processor: AMD 64x2 4800 Video Card: (onboard disabled) Diamond HD2600XT 512MB Optical Drive: Pioneer BDC-2202 I don't know what the specific issue was in the new driver, but I know what caused the problem.
When I updated the audio driver (Realtek High Definition Audio Driver with DTS Function WEB Version R1.72(5449) ) from the Gigabyte website, I started to get the error listed above when launching WinDVD. To fix the problem, I backed out the updated driver with the original one that came with the Gigabyte driver disk (RealTek 6.0.1.5413)and the problem went away.
Anyway, hope this helps someone in the same situation. Last night I did a system recovery to my computer.
I checked the system registry and there was no trace of any Intervideo or Corel products. All antivirus and firewalls were disabled before I attempted to do a new installation of Windvd 8. I was again given the Windvd MFC Application error upon trying to install WinDVD 8. The application patch does not work because it is for older versions of WinDVD 8.
All of the Microsoft Corp. Programs it requires were successfully installed. Copy 6 will not install either.
There are no other DVD copying or viewing programs installed to conflict with the installation of these two programs. I enjoy a computer challenge but this is just too much. This is the first time in many years of installing computer software that I encountered any programs like these. Posts: 22 Joined: Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:31 am. Clm3s, I cannot install the 3.0x86 files.
The microsoft error report says some other files are missing and preventing the installation. I will pursue this further when I get the time. I am giving up on WinDVD 8 I am convinced there is a serious flaw in the software. I base that opinion on the fact that I reinstalled WinDVD 7 and it works perfectly. I didn't even uninstall WinDVD8 prior to installing WinDVD7. I am no longer going to try to install DVD Copy 6 either. These programs should never and I repeat never be this difficult to get up and running.

Compaq had so much bloatware installed in the operating system to the degree that I was never satisfied with its performance. What I have now done is install a complete replacement operating system. I am now running Windows XP sp2 OEM. What a difference it made in the speed of computer. The second program I attempted to install after my failure with Copy 6 was WINDVD 8. I received the same results as before with the old os MFC Application Error. I used three different downloads on the chance I was getting a flawed download.
I completely removed all Intervideo traces in the computer system between each attempt. I pursued most of the suggestions in previous threads. DirectX and the runntime files are properly installed. I can't help but wonder if there is a conflict with the program and the AMD processor. I will follow this thread on the chance someone will find a solution. For now I am out of ideas.
Also (Sorry Corel) I purchased Cyberlinks PowerDVD 7 Deluxe. It is up and running perfectly! Posts: 22 Joined: Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:31 am. I'm having this exact same problem with the pioneer package. The 'fix' simply doesn't apply to Vista (at least not Vista Home Premium 64). I don't need to update something that Vista doesn't run.
Your link: Directs us to I go there and see this (summarized): 'Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe). System Requirements. Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 2000 Advanced Server; Windows 2000 Server; Windows 2000 Service Pack 2; Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows 95; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows ME; Windows NT; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP' Sorry, I dont see anything about vista in that list. If someone can give me the right link I'll give it a try I guess. Other fixes have also pointed to un-applicable-to-vista paths as well.
Just thought I'd point that out (even though it looks like it already has and has been ignored for months by the dates I'm seeing). I feel bad for people that aren't MCSA/MCSE certified that buy this product. Although, I bet some of them would bang their own heads into a concrete wall until it was a bloody pulp as well. Actually the hardware seems to work just fine, but the software maker's QC department seems non-existent, to be releasing crap like this.
No wonder when I bought it, it was the only box not orange-tagged (returned by a customer and re-sold). I thought that a bunch of people with incompatible motherboards (i.e. No SATA or something 'noob' like that) bought it and ran out without reading the box. Now I have to go stand in the line of angry consumers at Fry's Return Line tomorrow. I feel lucky now, if I can buy anything that claims to be 'vista compatible' and dont feel like I'm being defrauded after wasting countless hours trying to get it to work.Edit. Ok so I said screw it and downloaded from that link and extracted the file and ran it (This is ON TOP of the 7 hours I've spent googling solutions from other places).
I'm still having the same problem. The more I sit around and think about it, the more this smells something like a extortion. I've tried every work-around other than 'MFC error Step 2'. Which I stopped at after I installed the new version, and I was quickly taken to a page where they wanted more money to make my already-paid-for product work. I never had a 'registration code' or any of that crap printed anywhere in the package.
This is ridiculous. I've also completely uninstalled it and reinstalled from the disk that came with my drive and then applied the patch I found on their (Pioneer's) website. I mean tried to. Wrong version error, hah.

Bear in mind that I've had 0 problems with Vista for months now. If my business was run like this, we'd have been hit by a class-action, and out of business so fast! I dont know how you guys pull it off. Posts: 3 Joined: Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:36 am Location: Southern California. Meh, my system is totally up to date. Maybe extortion wasn't the best word to use, its more like an electronic bait-and-switch of sorts. Either way, I bet selling someone a product, then telling them they need to spend another 100 dollars to get it to work, isn't quite 'legal'.
All my hardware FAR exceeds the required system specs as well. Its cool, I'm just never buying a Corel product again, and I'm not doing business with Pioneer until they drop Corel. I really am happy for those of you who were able to get this to work, I just don't have the time to deal with this kind of BS anymore. Also, why the hell do you have to install Real Player AND Quicktime to get WinDVD to work? Not to mention all this Visual Basic stuff? Whatever happened to creating programs that simply worked by themselves?
Shoddy Workmanship and SHADY business practices are running rampant in North America now. Someone really needs to do something about this.
Shoddy Workmanship and SHADY business practices are running rampant in North America now. Someone really needs to do something about this. Corel has a trial with all features free for 30 days. If you find you don't like it or it doesn't work for you, go use something else. I understand there are 2 other choices. I won't trust Cyberlink on my machine since trying it in early XP.
I tried the 3rd one but it doesn't upconvert regular DVD to a higher def. It isn't perfect, but I think you're just looking to trash something and get attention. Remember, this is a user to user forum - no Corel tech support here. Posts: 64 Joined: Mon May 26, 2008 3:54 am.

After my return from this years New Year Holiday, I am getting the same issue as above. Running Windows 10 and version.466.
It was running fine prior to the New Year. Could it be a Windows 10 update that is not compatible? I have tried running in compatibility mode (Windows 7) but that has not worked either. This is occurring every time during the load. Before it used to happen after several hours of use or after leaving the program idle for a period of time with it executing but no use - (Change of frequency, or keyboard action.) I would like to update to a previous release stable, but none are available? Thanks Pete - W2PJ.
I had the MFC problem a few times in a previous release, but not the last couple. The best idea is to RUN away from the incomplete Edge browser as well as newer IE versions, both have documented problems. Use Chrome or Firefox as they are much more stable and have not interfered with HRD, in my setup. Chrome v42 and up will not run Java apps and many NAPI plug-ins as they are disabled by Chrome for 'security' reasons, but Firefox does not disable anything. I normally start Chrome first and it automatically opens 5 tabs, read some of the posts and logs in them, and then start HRD. All is good except for the Rotor display, and it's very sluggish to show up. And this apparently started with a recent update to Win 10 Pro 64.
I usually just leave it connected and close the program. It's ready to control the rotor the next time I fire up HRD. After a few minutes, the display finally appears. Windows 7 Pro (64bit) on a Dell 755 Duo with 4Gb RAM and 120Gb Kingston SSD 2 - Dell 1708FB Digital HD Monitors (Rig Control on left and Logbook on right) Current version of HRD unless I see problems with it.
Rich - I use Google Chrome as my stand alone browser. Whether or not I have it running or not, has no effect on this issue. Logbook will not load.
It crashes as it opens and starts to load the 8th IE tab. I assume that my only option is to use IE as the browser in HRD Logbook or am I mistaken, and an alternate Browser can be selected in HRD Logbook? As a temporary fix is there a way to close all the IE browsers tabs before the crash? Or prevent them from opening in the first place. The feature that remembers all the IE Tabs to re-open them on a new start up of HRD Logbook, is now preventing me from even using the logbook.
Any other suggestions to try? Thanks, Pete. Rich: That was it! I removed 'Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3132372)', that was loaded automatically yesterday on 1/3, when I booted up my machine on my return from holiday! Not sure how you can address it for others that will likely run into similar issues, but that is the cause! Something with the flash player and a particular web page that I had opened and it 'no longer likes' and crashes! The web page appears to be either this or this I hope this helps debug this new problem/incompatibility with a MS IE Flash Player update for Windows 10.
R/ Pete - W2PJ.
